Tips to Maintain the Quality of the Car You Leased

November 11, 2019 by Susan Paige

Although it’s a good thing to lease a car when you want to save money, the problem is that you need to return the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer will then check the car before returning your deposit. Normal wear and tear is understandable. No one expects the vehicle to look exactly the same. However, if the car looks badly damaged, you might not get your deposit back. These are some tips to maintain the quality of the leased vehicle.

Ask for regular maintenance

You can always go to a mechanic to regularly check the car. You need to do it at least once a month. It doesn’t matter even if the vehicle has no problem at all. You still have to go through the regular check to be safe. Who knows? There might already be some damage or problems waiting to happen. Only an expert can check these issues and solve them.

Avoid driving during bad weather

You can check the weather forecast through your phone app. If there’s heavy rain coming soon and you have plans to go on a trip, you have to suspend the plans. You could badly damage the vehicle if you insist on driving it in such conditions. You might also damage the physical appearance of the car, which would cost a lot to fix.

Don’t drive long distances

If you decide to lease a car, it means that you’ll only be using it for short distances. You need it to go to work or to buy items at the grocery store. If your plan is to use it on a road trip or other long trips, you have to change your mind. There’s a mileage limit that you need to consider. If you go beyond the limit, you will pay more, or the amount could get deducted from your deposit. Apart from the mileage limit, driving long distances could also lead to possible damage to your car.

Don’t wait until things get worse

If you start to notice a problem with the car, you need to drive it to the auto shop for a check. Whether it’s a weird sound or a funny smell, you need to have someone look at it. Fixing the problem at this stage is better than waiting until it’s too late. By then, you might have to pay more to fix the broken parts.

Choose wisely

There are conditions that you need to meet if you lease a car. You won’t own the car despite the monthly payments. Therefore, you have to think if leasing is right for you. If you can find the cheapest lease deals with a great car model and reasonable terms, you can pursue the plan. Otherwise, you should rethink your decision. You might want to buy a car and use it in any way you want since you’re the owner. Leasing is still a more practical choice, but you need to be responsible using the car.
