How To Teach Young Children Core Christian Values

December 13, 2022 by Susan Paige

Core Christian values are the basic beliefs that Christians hold dear. These values include faith, hope, love, forgiveness, reconciliation, and others. Christians believe that these values are essential to living a fulfilling and meaningful life. As parents, we want to instill these values in our children from a young age. But how do we do that? Keep reading to find out how to teach young children core Christian values, and if you really have a passion for teaching children, consider pursuing an associate’s degree in early childhood education.

How to Teach Honesty

One of the most important values that Christians believe in is honesty. Teaching children to be honest is one of the most important things that parents can do. Honesty is more than just telling the truth; it is also being truthful in your thoughts, feelings, and actions. It means being fair and equitable in your dealings with others.

There are a few ways that you can teach your child about honesty. First, you could look for Children’s bibles for sale and search verses on honesty or hold a bible study at night. Another way is to model honesty yourself. Be truthful with your child, even when it might be difficult. Tell them what you did wrong and how you fixed it. Let them see that you are a person who takes responsibility for your actions. Further, you could set clear rules about honesty and enforce them consistently. If you tell your child not to lie, then make sure that you don’t lie to them either. Explain why lying is wrong, and help them understand why it’s important to be honest.

How to Teach Kindness

Teaching kindness is not only a core Christian value, but it is also something that is beneficial for all people. Kindness can help to prevent bullying and violence, and it can also make the world a more pleasant place to live in. When teaching kindness, it is important to start early. Young children are often very receptive to new ideas, and they are also more likely to exhibit kind behavior if they are taught how to do so at an early age.

There are many different ways that you can teach your child about kindness. You can talk with your child about why being kind is important. Explain that being kind makes other people feel good and that it also makes the world a better place. Talk about specific examples of times when being kind made a difference in someone’s life. Further, encourage your child to practice what he or she has learned by giving him or her opportunities to perform random acts of kindness. These could include helping someone carry groceries, picking up litter on the street, or writing a thank-you note for service rendered.

How to Teach Purity

Purity is more than just abstaining from sex; it is also about living a holy life and keeping our hearts and minds pure. You can also help your child learn about purity by providing age-appropriate resources like books, videos, or websites. There are many great resources available online specifically geared towards helping kids learn about sexual abstinence and Christian values related to purity. Make sure whatever resources you choose are Biblical-based, age-appropriate, accurate, reliable, balanced, interactive, non-judgmental, supportive of family involvement/values transmission models (and) developmentally appropriate.

How to Teach Thankfulness

Thankfulness is being grateful for what you have, both good and bad. It is also thanking God for all He has done for you. Being thankful teaches children to be humble and to appreciate everything they have in their lives, big or small. There are many ways to teach thankfulness to your child. One way is to start a gratitude journal where your child writes down five things they are grateful for each day. This could be anything from their family and friends to their bed at night or the sun shining down on them. Another way is to say grace before meals and have your child thank God for the food they are about to eat. You can also pray together as a family every night and ask God to help your child be thankful for all the good in their lives.

Overall, teaching children about Christianity and its core values can help to provide them with a strong moral foundation that will guide them throughout their lives.
